This was our first village fete since 2013 and what a day it was!!
The fete was held in the centre of the village; in the church gardens and village hall. It was lovely to see so many villagers and hundreds of new faces - all enjoying the beautiful setting and the lovely sunny weather! The church garden - recently transformed by Poltimore in Bloom volunteers was the perfect location for the fete - helping to create a traditional village fete atmosphere!
Events on the day included a dog show, BBQ, cream teas, classic cars, plant stall, cake stall, traditional games, raffle, ice cream van, D-Day commemorations, children’s crafts and live music - all of which were a massive success, far surpassing all expectations!
The event would not have been possible without the time & effort of so many local volunteers who helped to plan, set up, donate, run stands and clean up - a real community effort - which was lovely to be a part of!
We had various sponsors whose generous donations and support really added to the day. Greendale Farm Shop provided a delicious looking hamper for the raffle prize and Exe Valley Farm Shop provided a meat hamper voucher for the raffle. Grooms by Mandy at Pinhoe judged the dog show and donated very generous prizes for the ‘best in show’ category. Organic Herd provided the prizes for the ‘milk the cow’ game - a variety of very apt dairy products! Lathys Farm in Poltimore supplied the meat for the BBQ, as well as the BBQ itself! Finally, Quickprint kindly printed the programme. All of these companies gave their time and efforts as well as donating services and products - we can’t thank you enough!
We’ve already started discussions for 2025 which will see some stalls returning as well as some new ones and ideas to make the day even more enjoyable than this was!
