Poltimore Church has been and remains the place of worship for the village (entered from the North) and Poltimore House Estate and the Blamfylde family (down one of two Lime Walks to the East) for over 600 years.

It is a grade one listed building constructed of local red sandstone with dressings volcanic trap. The 14th century un-buttressed West Tower is the oldest part of the church with a peal of six bells dating from 1723.

Major restoration took place by our medley Fulford from 1879.

Beside the church, the almshouses, the earliest dating from the 18th century. Across the road is the late Georgian rectory (now privately owned).

The church Is full of many tributes to parish life and the manorial family, including tombstones, effigies, memorials, hatchment, gravestones, dating back many centuries.

The church continues to serve the community for worship, baptisms, marriages, and Funerals, as well as providing a community library.

Images of angels, are present everywhere in the church. If you have time, try and count them!
