Following a very well-attended and successful bingo fundraising event the previous evening, Saturday morning saw further activity with 17 eager ‘Bloomers’ in attendance. The main job was to start digging over the shrub beds ready for shrub planting the next week and other preparatory works.
This included litter picking along the verges of the main village road leading to the Poltimore / Broadclyst road junction.
Thankfully the issue was not as bad as the previous month but the pick still resulted in 2 full bin bags of rubbish. Hopefully, a regular litter pick will now control the issue, thank you to our pickers as it’s not the most glamorous of tasks.
Two of our chain saw trained volunteers started the daunting task of disassembling one of the majestic fallen oaks.
Sections were cut and milled from 800mm diameter branches provide planking. The planks will be used to construct benches and planters within the village with a multitude of other options being discussed.
