Section Logo2023 Location - Phone box verge

Location image

The mown grass verge with phone box and wooden seat in the centre position of the village, we hope to

  • Form a shrub / flower bed in the portions either side of the bench.
  • Relocate bins to a more visually neutral position.
  • Scented shrubs planted around the bench.
  • Taller flowers possibly sunflowers along the rear wall.
  • Bulb planting.
  • Maintain existing grass strip along the frontage.

Future plans could include the purchase of the phone box for repurposing under their ‘adopt a box’ scheme and the creation and siting of bespoke Poltimore ‘identity planters’.

Wild flower seed spread to the end of the verge. The type used is an annual high impact colour mix; this will provide a valuable food source to insects and hopefully a visually attractive feature in the central area of the village.

The semi circle areas that were cultivated last week were levelled and lightly raked. The areas then planted in a symmetrical design either side of the bench with a mix 80 shrubs, grasses and herbaceous stock.
