Section Logo2023 Location - Oak tree

Location image

The Oak tree triangle area is another key feature in the village that we would like to improve visually. However the location is be challenging due large vehicles that encroach upon the area and the underlying soil is very compact and shaded.

Proposal :

  • Remove the existing unkempt Hypericum.
  • Level as much as possible and lay gravel or mulch on top of weed membrane.
  • Position three planters/large pots planted with either seasonal bedding or lower maintenance.
  • specimen shrubs/grasses.

Following the removal of the thick layer of Hypericum the area was again dug over and raked to remove further debris.

The area planted with 3 specimen box Balls and shade / drought tolerant perennial plants.

Lots of hard work in miserable cold weather saw this area cleared of the overgrown Hypericum. Surprisingly the soil quality and depth is very good and not impacted by roots from the Oak tree. We are therefore now rethinking our initial proposals and hope to replant with a mixture of suitable shrubs.
